The band was originally 4 members, Scott, Alwyn, Kristian and Kevin (The old drummer). Then one day in October 2002, there was a 'magical' music event , The Big Bash, this involved people who could play instruments joining together split up into groups and then had to make songs to perform the next day. Tim had just come off a Spanish trip the same day as the first day of the Big Bash, so couldn't make the first day. On the second day Tim was put in a group with Scott, Alwyn and Kristian and some shitty pop singers. They made two songs and performed the the next day. After the successful performance, the guys asked Tim to be there drummer and become a band. They chucked Kevin out as he couldn't play the drums anyway (Sorry Kevin) then also decided that Kristian shouldn't be in the band.
The band
was now three, this soon changed, as soon as the bands first gig. FLP Big Gig 2
at Berriew. They decided that they would need a singer, who better thought Tim
than his friend Colin Hancock. Colin said yes and the band became four. They
rehearsed and played the gig comments such as "The best a band has ever been for
their first gig" where made. But it may said following bands such as Ether took
our title.
After Berriew, they decided to move off the easy songs and play some harder
songs which the public would like. These songs included: Rock Show, How you
remind me and Threesome. The band rehearsed and for a second time pulled off the
goods at their second gig, FLP Big Gig 3 at Llanymynech.
Other gigs followed such as the Berriew Marquee gig and the special 'Beach Party - Free Alcohol'. The biggest gig was yet to come. The MonkeyCrap Party 3 was to be held in Morda. Weeks of practices were made and by the time of the gig many specials guest wanted to appear on stage with us. Lee Bennet pulled out the goods (Biffter) on Alkaline Trio - Radio, Some girl helped us with Greenday - Basketcase and Griggsy from The Un-named (Sherbet Worthy) sung Blink 182 - Rock Show with Col. After this gig things went downhill in the F4Z camp, rumours started that we were splitting, these were true. However, Scott and Alwyn asked Tim to play at their school competition, he agreed, and soon Col and Kristian were in the act. The band got through the prelims and on the day, a miracle occurred. To the bands surprise, they had one not only their year group but the entire competition.
Sadly that was end of Fly 4 Zero, rumours became true about the band splitting. This was due to attendance problems at practice. However now a new band has emerged from the mist, One Good Reason (1GR). 1GR are not nothing like Fly 4 Zero were, mainly due to the overflow of own material which Fly 4 Zero never produced. But before the band split they played one more Finale gig at the Colin Hancock/MonkeyCrap! birthday Party at Llangedwyn Hall, Fly 4 Zero played with a mixture of covers played from previous sets. 1GR reason also gave an appearance, to give a sneak preview of what is to come.
Nothing happened for months, till the band signed up for the National Eisteddfod of Wales 'Battle of the Bands Competition', the band rehearsed for about a month and had to convert all their songs into Welsh. All went well, the band played tremendously and won equal 3rd. However a surprise was in store for drummer Tim, who one 100 for being the best musician in the competition.
The band started work recording their EP 'Free the Squirrels', this is still in the making with 3 tracks finished and available to download on this site. With the band not playing a proper a gig the Schmet Team asked 1GR to play at their gig Schmet 2. 1GR surprised their critics and played an exceptionally great set, playing mostly their own material and few covers. From this gig the bands first album Schmet Live came to be.
The 'Free The Squirrels' EP was never finished, however work began on a new set of songs which would be recorded onto an album, oh yeh and we also changed our name, as it stands we were now called Serotonin. Late in 2004 the band finished recording their first studio album, entitled 'The Rise of Falling'. The album contained 13 songs of original dynamic music. Many copies of the album were sold locally and as far away as Swansea and Stafford. The album made Serotonin who they are today as from the sales of the album the bands popularity grew. In Swansea a local radio station The Volts Show picked up on the album and started to play their material. The allowed listeners to vote for songs played to produce a local chart show. In just a few weeks Serotonin went from the Top 30, to the Top 20, to the Top 10 and finally piped the charts at number one for 2 weeks! In stafford on the other hand a physical popularity grew. When Serotonin first played at the New York, New York Chicago Rock Cafe, many Staffys flocked to listen to the delights of Serotonin. Unfortunately after the first Stafford gig , one of the transport cars crashed!! Kristian was seriously injured and was rushed ironically back to a Staffordshire hospital. From this moment on Serotonin would never be the same again. After Kris recovered attitudes came and ties with Kristian ended. Kristian was no longer a member of the Serotonin crew.
Without Kris the band became the three piece they were always set out to be! The band gigged twice more in the Staffordshire region, once in Rugely supporting the mighty false idol, and again at the New York, New York Chicago Rock Cafe. The bands popularity had grew even more since the last gig here as a packed audience came to see the band. Serotonin have not gigged since. As they are concentrating on recording a new album. 8 songs have already been demode and Serotonin will be back gigging again very soon!
